There is no set amount of money that you are supposed to spend on wedding favors. You shouldn’t even be asking yourself this question. It really comes down to what type of gift you want to give. Once you decide what type of gift you want to give then start looking within that category to see where you can buy that product within your budget or see if maybe you can even make the favors yourself.
If you are just looking at favors based on price then you aren’t thinking about them in the right way. You will always be able to find ones that fit into your price range. There are plenty of options for wedding favors that cost as little as fifty cents each or even less. In fact there are more options for the less expensive favors than there are for the more expensive ones.
You are much better off thinking about yourselves and your guests. What type of wedding favor would be appropriate as a gift from you guys? Maybe there is something out there that symbolizes your relationship. If you met each other at a vacation in Hawaii, you could give something with a Hawaiian theme to it. If you both are involved heavily in the country music industry then you could choose something with a little country style flair to it. Maybe you both work for a parks department or work in a logging industry. You could give away tree saplings as a gift that everyone will remember. A few of the guests will plant the trees in their yard and talk about you guys for many years to come. I’m sure none of these situations fits you exactly, but you get the idea.
You can let the theme of your wedding, if you have one, also determine the type of wedding favor gift you want to hand out. Anything related to the ocean would be appropriate for a beach style wedding. If you are getting married on a cruise ship then try to come up with something that reflects that trip and reminds people of how much fun the trip was. I remember a wedding where the bride worked as a pastry chef. Can you imagine what they gave out as wedding favors? Yes they were edible and they tasted great.
That is how you should think about picking out your wedding favors. Don’t just buy something because of its price. If you are shopping on price alone then you aren’t really thinking about your guests like you should be. Put some real effort into coming up with ideas that they would really like. Then your guests will appreciate how thoughtful you were. If you shop for favors with your eye on every price tag, you will end up getting something that is left behind on the wedding reception table or taken home and thrown in a junk drawer. You know that will happen because you have seen other people do it or done it yourself at someone else’s wedding.
