weddingcookiefavorsCookies as wedding favors are treats that everyone can appreciate. Whether you decide on the always-famous chocolate chip cookie or the warm and spicy flavors of gingerbread, cookies can be a great way to class up any wedding.  Cookie wedding favors can be enjoyed around the tables at the wedding-party or decoratively packaged as wedding gifts to take home.

Wedding favors that are cookies can easily be coordinated with the season in which you are getting married.

Spring:

Spring weddings are great opportunities to embrace your favorite flowers. Use your favorite blooms in your bouquet, centerpiece, and for your wedding favors. Using flower-shaped cookie cutters, make your own custom creations to bring together your wedding decorations.

Here is the recipe for a basic sugar cookie icing that can vary in color:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 teaspoons of milk

2 teaspoons light corn syrup

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Food coloring

In a bowl, mix powdered sugar with milk until well blended. Add the corn syrup and almond extract and beat until mixture is glossy. Extra corn syrup can prevent it from being too thick.

Using individual bowls for each color, brush on icing on cookies.

Summer:

Bring on the fruit with summertime cookie recipes. Serve up a hint of citrus with lemon bars, lemon drop cookies, lemon coconut bars, or lemon chess bars. Chocolate cherry drop cookies topped with whipped cream are a sweet summer treat, as well as blueberry cookies with vanilla ice cream.  No-bake cookies are also popular in the summer, so consider cornflake bars or crispy rice marshmallow bars.

Fall:

Take the best aspects of the fall season and reflect them into your wedding reception favors. The inviting scent of pumpkin cookies can only be matched in richness by a mug of hot cocoa.  Send each guest home with five or more cookies along with a packet of delicious hot chocolate. They will think of your wedding when they eat those delicious cookies and sip on warm, smooth chocolate. Though often used in the winter, gingerbread cookies are also autumn favors.

Winter:

So many different courses of action when dealing with cookies for a winter wedding. Cookie cutters in the shape of candy canes, men, trees, and snowmen are great tools for adding festivity to your otherwise round cookies. Probably the simplest way to acquire winter wedding cookies is to buy cookie dough already complete with a holiday shape inside. They are cheap, simple, and perfectly represent the holidays.  It is up to you how you want to thank your guests, and cookies are certainly a great start.
